The Story Behind Kokone
Kokone — "Little One" in the language of the Tuamotu Islands, French Polynesia.
WHERE IT BEGINS
A Tahitian mama, three little boys, and one big dream
I'm a mama from Tahiti — raised in the heart of French Polynesia, where the ocean is never far, where family gathers around handmade things, and where a blanket is never just a blanket.
When my three boys were born (This is baby Naiki), I wanted to wrap them in something that carried meaning. Something that said: you come from somewhere beautiful. Something they could grow up with, hold onto, and one day pass down.
I couldn't find it. So I created it.
"In Polynesia, we say a tifaifai is never thrown away. It is kept, loved, and handed down — because it carries the warmth of the person who made it."
That is the spirit behind every Kokone blanket. Our prints are inspired by the tifaifai — the traditional quilts of French Polynesia and Hawaii — bold, vibrant, full of life. Our materials are chosen to last through every wash, every adventure, every nap, from baby's first days to childhood and beyond.
